Abstinence: Every person who is 14 years or older must abstain from meat (and all things made with meat) on: Ash Wednesday (Feb 17), all Fridays of Lent and Good Friday (April 2). If your health or work is affected by this stipulation, then the Church does not oblige to follow the rules. Fasting: All Catholics between the ages of 18 & 59 years of age must fast on Ash Wednesday (Feb 17) and Good Friday (April 2). Fasting means that you can have one full meal and two other small meals to maintain strength for your activities. The two smaller meals should not add up to one full meal. |
